Sustainable Dining: How We’re Reducing Our Environmental Footprint

text, letter

At 75 Chestnut, we believe that great food and sustainability go hand in hand. As stewards of our community and the planet, we are committed to implementing eco-friendly practices in every aspect of our operations. From reducing waste to sourcing sustainable ingredients, we take a holistic approach to minimizing our environmental footprint. Here are some of the ways we are making a difference:

Recycling and Waste Reduction

We take recycling seriously. Our restaurant recycles cardboard, glass, plastics, metals, toner cartridges, cell phones, writing paper, computer printouts, colored paper, newspapers, magazines, fax paper, catalogs, and envelopes. Additionally, we compost our food waste, ensuring that organic matter is repurposed rather than ending up in landfills. We also recycle waste oil for renewable energy, making sure every drop is put to good use.

Sustainable Sourcing

Whenever possible, we source our ingredients from sustainable and renewable food sources, prioritizing local vendors who share our commitment to environmental responsibility. We avoid foods treated with growth hormones, GMOs, antibiotics, and trans fats, ensuring that our menu reflects our dedication to healthy, ethical dining.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation

Reducing energy consumption is a top priority. Our kitchen is equipped with energy-efficient appliances with programmable timers and thermostats, allowing us to minimize unnecessary energy use. We utilize motion sensor lighting and fluorescent energy-saving bulbs to cut down on electricity waste, and we train our staff to practice energy and water conservation techniques daily.

Eco-Friendly Materials

From the front of the house to the back, we make sustainable choices in the materials we use. Our take-out packaging is made from recycled stock, and we prioritize post-consumer recycled paper for our menus and office supplies. Even within our office, we reuse paper and envelopes and work diligently to reduce junk mail.

Green Initiatives and Education

Sustainability is a team effort. We educate our staff on ecological sustainability, recycling, and energy/water conservation to ensure that our green initiatives are ingrained in our daily operations.

Looking Forward

At 75 Chestnut, sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a way of life. We are constantly seeking new ways to improve our environmental practices while delivering exceptional dining experiences. We invite our guests to join us in making more sustainable choices and to dine with the peace of mind that every meal served here is part of a greater effort to protect our planet.

Thank you for supporting sustainable dining. Together, we can make a difference!
